Engrossing and gripping, this film counts the cost of war and conflict.

When their mother dies, twins Simon and Jeanne are given the task of finding their brother and father.  It is a quest that will break and remake their lives, taking them from Canada to Israel and Palestine, and they will finally discover the hidden truth about their mother.

At several junctures here there are horrific twists and surprises; but the biggest revelation is saved till the last.  There are several fine performances, not least from the principal actresses Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin (Jeanne) and Lubna Azabal (who plays Jeanne’s mother Nawal).

One of the best films you are likely to see this year.
