Laurence Anyways

In late youth, a man transforms himself into a woman.

Or she is a woman, has been so all along, it’s just that her body has never quite matched up to her sense of self.

We follow the life, including the protracted break up with a soulmate, from dissatisfied man to reasonably content woman.  The journey is an eventful one, to put it mildly.

It is an immensely stylish film, as you would expect from the director of Heartbeats, and there are not too many indulgent moments.  As in the earlier film, Monia Chokri’s beauty dazzles.

And it’s a truth, demonstrated here yet again, that you move in circles no matter which way you turn.
