You are in for a delicious treat here, and by that I mean something more than a piece of mouldy old cheese.
Some seven or so fairytales and folk stories, all featuring rats in some form, that’s what’s on the menu. The stories variously involve a woodcutter and a troll, a pied piper (yes, that one), a doll who comes to life, a woman who yearns to regain her lost youth and who’ll pay any price to do so… Collectively, they conjure a magical world with just a smidgeon of darkness.
Sonorous musical accompaniment is provided by Tom Thorp and Rosemary Troll, both RNCM alumni.
Rat’s Tales is at the Royal Exchange Theatre until 12 January 2013, further details can be found here.
