It’s a film about a venture at once heroic and significant.
The glaciers are flowing away, seemingly as sudden as your child’s tears. James Balog is a photographer who set out to document this phenomenon, to provide visible proof of climate change, a paradigmatic image. Here we have his story and details of the project he began – the Extreme Ice Survey – along with myriad stunning glacial landscapes.
Zeal, passion, courage, persistence, curiosity, an unswerving eye for nature’s beauty – these are some qualities that Balog brings to his work. And it is no exaggeration to say that he risks life and limb: just count the number of knee operations he’s had.
A beautiful, inspiring film. Further details of James Balog’s Extreme Ice Survey project can be found here.
