Rachel Weisz is here again – she appeared in another recent film, The Lobster – this time playing the daughter and assistant of Michael Caine’s character, a composer and conductor who reads The Guardian.
She is the most beautiful woman in the film, despite the presence of a Miss Universe and Paloma Faith. Sometimes, not always, you can see the freckles on her cheek.
Harvey Keitel is here too and his character bows out like the aunt in Ida: it is a scene that works the second time around (or the third: I remember a scene like this in an Indian film set in a village with a well).
It is a bit of a mish-mash this film, though it has some luminous moments. One of those films you might want to see again in five years’ time, though not before.
